Pollution of the land

This site gives information about the harmful effects of land pollution on the earth.
Pollution of the land
Land pollution is the contamination of the Earth’s land surface and it is a serious problem. Resulting from human activities, land pollution results in an imbalance in nature that exposes the land to harmful chemicals and depletes the quality of soil, one of the Earth’s most important natural resources.

There's nothing quite like opening the door and breathing fresh, clean, air—but how clean is the air you're breathing right now? Unless you're a scientist with a chemistry lab at your fingertips, there's no real way of knowing. The gases you're sucking up through your nose could be slowly killing you: according to theWorld Health Organization, around two million people die prematurely from the effects of polluted air every single year. Air pollution is a huge problem—and not just for people living in smog-choked cities: through such things as global warming and damage to the ozone layer, it has the potential to affect us all. So what exactly causes this major environmental issue and what can we do about it? Let's take a closer look!
Photo: Air pollution is obvious when it pours from a smokestack (chimney), but it's not always so easy to spot. This smoke comes from a coal-fired power plant and its pollutants include sulfur dioxide and the "greenhouse gas" carbon dioxide. How to reduce you carbon footprint

how to reduce your carbon footprint

This site gives ideas for using our precious resources wisely and enables us to live more sustainably.

Definition:-Your carbon footprint is the sum of all emissions of CO2 (carbon dioxide), which were induced by your activities in a given time frame. Usually a carbon footprint is calculated for the time period of a year.

Reduce What You Can, Offset What You Can’t.™
That’s our motto, and we’re proud of it.  Everyone has a responsibility to reduce their individual carbon footprint, and there are lots of ways to do so.  We encourage everyone to think about their lifestyle decisions and find opportunities to reduce their climate impact.
You can get partway to carbon neutrality through how you live your life, i.e., reducing your carbon footprint, and get the rest of the way there by supporting Carbonfund.org’s carbon offset projects.
